Osteopathy in Vancouver
Osteopathy is a drug-free, non-invasive manual therapy, and is one of the fastest growing health care professions in North America. The goal of this treatment is to relieve pain, improve mobility and restore health and vitality across the body's nervous, circulatory, and lymphatic systems by enhancing it’s natural ability to self-regulate and self-heal.
The practitioner employs a skill referred to as palpating; a very sensitive and somewhat intuitive approach to manipulating and strengthening the musculoskeletal framework on both a superficial level, as well as deeply within the body. This is done by gently touching the tissues or systems under examination in order to interpret the relationship between the structure of the body and how well it is functioning, in connection to the tissues, fluids, organs and systems of the body.
The practitioner will then prioritize a patient's course of treatment by working with the position, mobility and quality of the tissue, while focusing on the joints, muscles, and spine to understand and detect root causes of dysfunction. Nothing is added (medications or remedies) or subtracted (surgery) from the body. Osteopathy can help treat various different issues including arthritis, pain, headaches and digestive issues.
